Why should you redecorate you house. There are numerous reasons to redecorate your house, your tastes may have changed, it needs a freshen up as its looking tired, it protects and enhances, it adds value to your home…
Most industry experts will tell you, that you need to redecorate every 3-4 years, now whilst this is a good rule of thumb don’t forget that ‘industry experts’ may well have ulterior motives!
‘Do I need an interior designer?’
In a word…No. You don’t necessarily need an interior designer, but they can be invaluable if you aren’t sure on what the latest trends are or what is in or out! They can be really helpful on choosing colours or wallpapers, as they will know, through experience, how certain colours will look in a naturally sunlit room as opposed to a room with no natural light at all. They can assist in choosing the right finish, where to use vinyl matt and where to use acrylic eggshell. However you may already have in mind the colour you want your room so don’t be afraid to be bold, just remember if you are choosing your own colours to apply swatches on numerous walls in different areas of the room, shade and light can have a huge baring on how a colour looks.
Redecorating the exterior ‘WILL’ add value
When you repaint the exterior of your home it will add certain things. It will add kerb appeal, making it look fresh and clean against the tired neighbours houses. It will help to protect it from the harsh winter and also against the scorching sun…now I appreciate we don’t necessarily get harsh winters or scorching sun in the UK but weatherproofing your house will certainly extend the lifespan of timber and masonry. It will also make you feel prouder when you see the admiring glances from the neighbours, its no coincidence that when one property in the road gets repainted others follow shortly, no one likes to live in ‘that’ tatty house on the corner!
Changing your home because there are changes your life
Perhaps you’ve got a new addition to the family. Is there anything more fun than decorating a nursery? Sure, the baby might not be using it for months but a nursery is also a good space for mum and dad. It’s a place to unwind, to rock the baby to sleep, to feed and change in peace
Decorating a room for your new baby is a great reason to start decorating again and it gives you a reason to start investigating what’s ‘out’ there.
There are many reasons to redecorate, or repaint. Remember first and foremost, do it for yourself. Enjoy choosing colours, enjoy finding accessories, finding a quality tradesman to help with those difficult tasks that are beyond you.
Once you’ve finished it you’ll be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the fruits of your labours, the is until you walk into the next room!!
